Have an old mystery novel that you never quite finished? How about that brilliant sci-fi story that got logged down in chapter four? AbandonedNovel.com is seeking the ten best unfinished novel "beginnings" to breath new life into unfinished stories.

Teton River Productions is proud to announce the launch of AbandonedNovel.com, a website soliciting authors to submit the first several chapters of their best unfinished works of fiction. Scott Placek, Chief Executive Officer of Teton River Productions, characterized Teton River’s inaugural publishing venture as an “opportunity for authors to dig out the old stories they never finished, and a chance to see those great beginnings included in a new kind of book that’s never been seen before.” He explained, “The idea is to publish a book with just the ten best beginnings we’ve ever read. Certainly we understand that the concept is strange: publishing only the beginnings of ten stories. But that’s also what makes it unique. Every two or three chapters, the reader will find themselves engrossed in a brand new story with an open ending that could lead anywhere. And who knows, with enough interest, maybe the authors of those stories will discover their endings.”

Teton River Productions will be accepting submissions through November of this year, stating that it intends to select the ten best “beginnings” and publish them in a single volume in the Summer of 2009. The hard part, explained Placek, is finding those beginnings. “Every good novel starts with a story that engages the reader and compels them to read more... to see what’s waiting in the mystery of the pages that follow. Look, we’re aspiring writers ourselves. I have three or four unfinished novels that petered out after the first few chapters. We understand that the process of writing a 400 page novel can be difficult, and the frustrations inherent to fiction writing can be insurmountable. But just because those stories aren’t finished doesn’t mean they aren’t worth reading. And it’s those stories– the ones that really grab the reader and won’t let go– that we’re interested in.”

Aspiring writers can visit the website, www.abandonednovel.com, for submission guidelines and information on how to submit their original works for consideration.
