This is one of my favorite bikes, but my better half has put her foot down. I have too many bikes, and this is the odd bike out.
I had purchased this bike as my primary commuter bike in August of 07, and used it for 5 months. I decided to do a bike tour recently and had purchased a new touring bike. They are too similar, and since this has only been used sparingly to make grocery runs, it’s time for this one to go.
The Trek SoHo was extremely well put together with commuting in mind. It’s a no nonsense machine with a more relaxed geometry than a traditional road bike. Don’t let the mountainbike-look fool you, the SoHo can dish out some speed. I’ve stayed with, and at times passed a few roadies with my panniers on. I absolutely loved that it has disc breaks for those times that Phoenicians don’t “see” you. It has serious stopping power. The handle bars have plenty of space for headlamps, ipods, cellphones, or even the occasional air horn.
For a hybrid bike, I didn’t find much more that I needed to add. I’ve only supplemented the bike with a jandd rear rack, some Ergon GC2 grips, a Cat eye wireless cyclocomputer, and Crank Brothers egg beater pedals(If you don’t have clip in shoes compatible, I have a spare pair of platform pedals that I can exchange them with) .
The bike is a 20” mountain frame and rides like a 57cm road bike. Good enough for someone from 5’8” to 6’2” (I’m, 6’1”). Original MSRP was $1,260.00 not including all the goodies, and I’m selling for $550 even steven. I did all the bike maintenance myself, but I’ve been cycling for 15 years, and maintain all my own bikes.
