Medical biller/coder for multi office medical practice
Demonstrates expert job knowledge and applies current billing and coding regulations, policies, and procedures along with effective decision-making and problem solving skills in the outpatient coding process. Opportunity is local to central Phoenix, AZ. Reviews medical records and understands medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and disease processes. Abstracts medical records and identifies and assigns appropriate ICD-9CM diagnosis codes, and surgical CPT codes for services including consultations, procedures, and tests for Osteopathic physicians in a Family Practice. Assigns appropriate CPT modifiers and prices to procedures performed typical to a Family Practice. Is flexible and willing to adapt to changes in the work environment. Maintains effective and professional communication skills. Demonstrates excellent customer service. Contributes to a positive departmental image by exhibiting professionalism, adaptability, teamwork and mutual respect. Practices continuous improvement. Extensively uses computers and is proficient in various administrative software products to support coding activities. Medisoft experience is a plus.
Qualifications: Associate's Degree or equivalent of experience and or diploma program or both. Licensure/State Certification credentials are a strong plus. Requires a good understanding of CPT, ICD-9CM coding, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and disease processes. Possesses Strong PC skills, both keyboarding and applications..
