People Media, an operating business of Match.com has an opening for a talented Sr. Database Engineer (SQL Server Developer) that thrives in a dynamic and fast paced development environment. In addition to strong technical skills in SQL Server (SQL Server, T-SQL, SSMS, SSIS, Profiler), the candidate should have planning and estimation skills and adaptable to an environment and processes supporting short development cycles.
Responsibilities:
* Design, analyze code, optimize, and maintain all databases, tables, stored procedures, indexes, triggers, data extraction, transformation, and validation as well as other processes as required.
* Work closely with application developers (ColdFusion, ASP.NET) to define requirements for advanced database designs.
* Supply advice and guidance on database good practices. Provide input on systems architecture as required.
* Follow all security practices and identify areas and processes where performance and security can be improved. Make and justify recommendations for improvement.
* Continuously tune and optimize SQL Server databases.
* Ensure that code and other deliverables adhere to company standards.
* Act as resource for the Production Support Team to handle data-related and database issues and problems.
* Assist/Support in building data warehouses suitable for supporting strategy, finance, marketing and other business decisions.
* Provide all required additional support to Development, Quality Assurance, and Production Support Teams.
* On-call status is a requirement of the position.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field is a plus.
* 5 to 7 years of proven experience in all phases of SQL Server. Complex database development, optimization, relational database design, database application development, and data reporting tools.
* Expert level of T-SQL skills, SSMS, SSIS, Profiler and other optimization and 3rd party tools.
* Experience with internet-based financial real-time transaction processing systems.
* Experience with systems that maintain 24/7 availability.
* Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience in database architecture & design, development, and optimization.
* Skilled at interpreting business requirements and developing solutions that meet those requirements.
* Self-directed and adept at multitasking and working with a variety of stakeholders.
* Ability to meet tight project schedules.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
