Job Description
Perform software design, development, and unit testing as part of Unicons professional service team. This may require research and analysis. Expertise and work efforts focus on the programming and development of open source based solutions, including uPortal and Sakai. Duties may be performed at customers site.
This role may include custom software development work based on client requests. This role may require up to 25% travel.
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in software engineering or computer science
Five to severn years of professional experience designing, developing and supporting web-based applications
Required Knowledge & Skills:
Technical:
Experience developing web-based applications with Java and JEE APIs
Professional experience with application/product deployment and documentation
Understanding of core concepts and principles of XML
Non-technical:
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
Outstanding attention to detail
Strong analytical and design skills
Strong teamwork skills
Preferred Knowledge & Skills:
Experience with open source technologies
Higher Ed experience
Working familiarity with portal technologies, especially uPortal and the JSR 168 Portlet Specification
Advanced understanding of Object Oriented Design, Design Patterns, and UML
Professional experience with XML related technologies, especially XSL/XPATH and DTD/Schema
Professional experience with Java XML APIs, especially WWWC DOM and dom4j
Professional experience with relational database products, especially Oracle
Professional experience developing multi-threaded and distributed systems
Professional experience using common source code control tools, especially SVN
Working familiarity with common server operating systems, especially Linux and Windows
Experience deploying and troubleshooting Tomcat
Professional experience with Hibernate and Spring MVC
