POSITION DECRIPTION:<br>
Performs skilled work in the control and extinguishment of fires.  Administers first aide treatment, and transports sick or injured persons to medical facilities.  Drives, operates and performs routine maintenance on various fire apparatus.  Operates and maintains medical equipment.  Performs physically hazardous and mentally stressful tasks under adverse conditions.  Participates in the fire safety inspections; training, fire station and equipment maintenance, public education programs, and other public safety programs or programs or projects as may be assigned.<br>

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:<br>

	Prepare and maintain records and reports regarding fire alarms, emergency medical calls, fire prevention inspection, and public education activities and supplies.<br>
	Provide assistance and administer appropriate basic, or advanced levels of first aid treatment to ill or injured persons according to accepted medical protocols and practices.<br>
	Communicate clearly using portable radios and digital communication devices from emergency scenes.<br>
	Participate in drills and classes pertaining to firefighting, emergency medical practices, hazardous materials, special rescue techniques and other continuing education programs.<br>
	Conduct fire safety inspections in public access buildings, interpret and apply appropriate codes, and secure code compliance.<br>
	Subject to hazards.  Working in limited visibility, proximity to electrical currents, and moving mechanical parts and equipment, exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous chemicals, fumes, odors, mists, dusts, gases or poor ventilation.  Position is subject to all environmental conditions indoors and outdoors.  Position is required to wear self-contained breathing apparatus to complete portions of the job essential functions.<br>

Develops and coordinates grant funded programs for the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.<br>

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:<br>
Essential functions may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class<br>

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:<br>
	Consults with personnel affected by proposed program to develop program goals and objectives, outline how funds are to be used, and explain procedures necessary to obtain funding; <br>
	Prepares grant budgets; <br>
	Issues financial reports and requests for reimbursements; <br>
	Prepares quarterly, monthly, semi-annual and annual reports based upon contract requirements; <br>
	Develops and maintains extensive contacts within funding agencies to ensure grant opportunities are available;<br>
	Coordinates evaluation and monitoring of grant funded programs; <br>
	Assists department personnel in writing grant proposals; <br>
	Writes periodic reports to comply with grant requirements; <br>
	Maintains master files on grants; <br>
	Analyzes general ledger to ensure proper costs are charged to contracts; <br>
	Prepares detailed budget information for grant expenditures; <br>
	Collects contract money and analyze cash accounts and deposit information; <br>
	Performs other duties as assigned or required. <br>
<br>
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:<br>
	Knowledge of grant and contract administration.<br>
	Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.<br>
	Knowledge of grant and contract funding sources.<br>
	Knowledge of budgeting techniques.<br>
	Skill in writing and reviewing grant specifications.<br>
	Skill in financial administration of grant funds, including preparing financial reports.<br>
	Skill in the use of a personal computer, Word, Excel, Lotus software.<br>
	Skill in establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships with other departments of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and its Enterprises; vendors, other interested parties and the public.<br>
	Skill in the use of the PC 93-638 model contract.<br>

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:<br>
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.  Five years of increasingly responsible experience in grant and contract administration.<br>

<description><![CDATA[The City of El Mirage is recruiting to fill six (6) vacant positions and to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies. <br>

Completed City of El Mirage application must be received by Human Resources no later than 4:00pm on 10/28/09. <br>

Complete National Testing Network (NTN) application and written test by 11/03/09. <br>

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:<br>

Step 1:<br>
Applicants must apply by completing a City of El Mirage application which can be obtained at <a href="http://az-elmirage2.civicplus.com/jobs.aspx"  rel="nofollow">http://az-elmirage2.civicplus.com/jobs.aspx</a> by clicking on the Firefighter-EMT job title where you will have access to the application forms. It is important that your application show all the relevant education and experience you possess for the past 10 years. Applications will be rejected if incomplete. <br>

Step 3:<br>
Applicants must complete the standard test at <a href="http://nationaltestingnetwork.com/"  rel="nofollow">National Testing Network</a> and have passed a current CPAT (testing also available at <a href="http://nationaltestingnetwork.com/"  rel="nofollow">National Testing Network</a>) no later than 11/03/09. There is an additional work history form on the NTN web site <a href="http://nationaltestingnetwork.com/"  rel="nofollow">National Testing Network</a> that needs to be completed. Please link the following website in order to fill out the NTN application and to schedule and complete the standard test: <a href="http://nationaltestingnetwork.com/"  rel="nofollow">National Testing Network</a> select Fire and sign up for the City of El Mirage Fire Department. <br>

Step 4:<br>
Selected candidates will be invited to an Oral Board Interview scheduled to begin on November 12, 2009. <br>

Job Requirements:<br>

Age:     Must be at least 18 years of age  <br>
High School Grad/GED  High School Diploma or GED equivalency  <br>
Valid ARIZONA State Driver's License:     Must have current and valid Arizona drivers license prior to employment  <br>
CPAT:     Candidate Physical Abilities Testing (CPAT) Certified within 6 months of written exam  <br>
EMT:     Must have current State of Arizona EMT-Basic, or higher. Will consider applicants that can obtain certification within 60 days of employment offer.<br>
