Job Title: Software Support Engineer
Department: Support
Reports To: VP Client Support and Services
FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary: We are looking for an energetic and motivated Software Support Engineer to join our team working on an open-source, web-based financial system used by colleges and universities around the country (Kuali). The principle focus of this position will be working rSmart technical staff and clients to analyze and solve technical problems related to KFS implementations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are common elements of this position. Other duties may be assigned.
 Second tier customer support, troubleshooting and providing solutions to the customer service representatives
 Diagnose and fix bugs
 Document exceptions and fixes for inclusion into core product
 Merge defect resolutions between code bases
 Develop a deep understanding of KFS
 Take ownership of technical issues, and working with our Development group to resolve more advanced issues when necessary
 Work with customers and community members, including customer service representatives, business managers, project managers, software engineers, and data center engineers.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years of Java experience
• Knowledge of SQL and experience with more than one of the following databases: Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL, or db2
• Enjoys trouble shooting and problem solving
• Strong verbal and written communications skills: clear, concise and able to communicate difficult operations with customers
• Able to work with minimal direction, prioritize, and multitask
• Ability to rapidly gain knowledge of new techniologies and systems
• Enjoys working to achieve customer satisfaction
• Familiarity working in Java environment. This includes using source control, an IDE, bug tracking system, and Maven or Ant builds
