What a unique find!! This beauty vintage (1960-70s) Tang Dynasty Style War Horse is intricately detailed and stands at an impressive height of 17” inches and is about 15” long. Base is a cream color and measures 8” x 6” and weighs just under 8lbs
Its maker is stamped on the bottom. Glaze is dripping in the sancai style, has crazing in the glaze which is a signs of age. I do not see any chips nor repairs, this horse appears to be in excellent vintage condition.
The figurine is made using the sancai (three-color) glazing technique, which was popular during the Tang dynasty,
The colors typically used in sancai are brown, green, and a creamy off-white, often with blue accents.
These horses were originally created as tomb figures to be buried with the deceased. Located near Central Ave and Northern in Phoenix 85020
