A Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides care, assistance, and support to individuals with intellectual, developmental. physical, or behavioral disabilities. DSP's help individuals achieve greater independence, participate in their communities, and maintain a high quality of life while ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Assist individuals with activities of daily living(ADL's), including:
-Personal hygiene
-Mobility support transfers
-Meal/feeding assistance
Administer medication as directed and document medication administration.
Support individuals in developing life skills, social skills and independent living skills.
Accompany individuals to community activities and recreational events.
Monitor and document individuals' progress, behaviors, and health concerns.
Maintain accurate records and complete required reports.
Ensure safe, clean, and supportive living environment
Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established safety procedures.
Advocate for individuals' rights, dignity and personal choices.
Communicate effectively with family members, healthcare professionals, supervisors, and team members.
Qualifications
-High school diploma or GED required
-Previous experience in a Day Program
-Valid drivers license
-CPR/FIRST AID and Medication administration certification.
-Ability to pass background check
-Article 9
-Fingerprint card.
-Ability to lift, transfer and assist individuals as needed.
