KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Driving & Daily Operations
• Operate roll-off trucks, stake-bed trucks, and 18-wheelers.
• Complete 5–6 dispatched customer stops per day: container switch-outs, dump & returns, and inter-company yard transfers.
• Safely maneuver in tight yards and confined customer sites.
• Load, unload, and transport scrap metal safely and efficiently.
• Inspect metal grades and document materials for inventory tracking.
Compliance, Safety & Equipment Care
• Perform DOT-required pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Follow all DOT regulations, company safety protocols, and yard traffic rules.
• Maintain visibility on in-cab cameras and wear PPE at all times.
• Perform routine truck upkeep: fueling, lubrication, and housekeeping.
• Keep yard and work areas clean, organized, and hazard-free.
Customer & Team Communication
• Communicate professionally with dispatch, office staff, and customers.
• Understand loading requirements and resolve minor customer concerns.
• Work closely with yard personnel to maintain safe operations.
Minimum Qualifications
• Valid Class A CDL
• 3 years verifiable CDL driving experience
• Must be 21+ years old
• Must pass: DOT physical, DOT drug test, background check, MVR review (clean), and Clearinghouse consent
• Ability to read, speak, and communicate clearly in English
• Basic math skills for load counts and documentation
• High school diploma or GED preferred (foreign education accepted)
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
• Industrial scrap metal recycling and shredder yard environment
• Operate roll-off systems, hydraulic lift mechanisms, and trucks up to 18 wheels
• Light to moderate physical activity
• Ability to maintain balance in rocking/vibrating equipment
• Ability to climb fixed ladders as needed
• Repetitive hand movements (gripping, shifting, securement tasks)
• Must maintain strong sensory awareness in a high-activity yard
