Excavator Operator (Phoenix)

compensation: DOE

hardison/downey inc., a Kitchell operating company, seeks an Excavator Operator to join our close-knit team of employee-owners. This is an opportunity for the right candidate to build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented building companies in the United States.

Operates excavators in high production trenching operations at all depths for sewer, water & storm drain.


Duties and Responsibilities

Trenching utilizing a trench box shoring system that could include pulling stacked trench boxes and setting manhole boxes.
Working in a mass excavation operation digging loading on and off highway trucks.
Read survey grade stakes and find grade by visual reference.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience

Required:

Experience operating excavators with CAT/SAE controls.
Experience working in a mass excavation operation-digging loading on and off highway trucks.
Experience in Cat 330 or Deere 350 up to Cat 390 or Deere 870 size excavators.


Desired:

GED, High School Diploma or higher.
Trench Safety, Competent Person or MSHA & OSHA.
4 years minimum experience operating excavators.



Knowledge and Skills



Working knowledge of construction equipment required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Possess strong organizational skills and follow through.
High degree of professionalism, strong work ethic, superior attention to detail, ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment with changing conditions and priorities.
A self-starter that can work well in teams and with minimal supervision.
Must be consistent and dependable, able to utilize available time efficiently to organize and meet given deadlines.
Always seek ways to increase job efficiency and provide solutions to problems.



Work Environment



While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently inspects the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions, while wearing personal protective equipment.
The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.
This position is performed in outside weather conditions.




Physical Requirements



While performing the duties of this job, the position is very active and the employee is frequently standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, digging, trenching and climbing throughout day.
Operating heavy equipment and hand tools.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 75 pounds safely.



Travel Requirements



Limited to no travel will be required for this position.
