We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Laborer (Technician) familiar with communications infrastructure installation to join our innovative team. This individual installs fiber optic cable networks, working underground to support telecommunication systems. Key duties include hydro-digging trenches, installing conduit, pulling cable, & installing pedestals and boxes. This physically demanding role requires manual dexterity, work in varied weather conditions, and adherence to safety & quality protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Installation: Laying fiber optic conduit underground in trench.
Physical Labor: Hydro-digging trenches, coring road surface, and utilizing specialized tools to build lateral fiber access points to end users.
Restoration and Backfilling: Installation of boxes and pedestals, conduit installation in service drops, restoration of end user property, & clean up.
Vehicle and Equipment Support: Assist the operators in emptying equipment and vehicles at the end of shift, loading of next operation’s materials, yard maintenance, traffic control, & equipment inspections.
Site Preparation: Preparing, clearing, and maintaining the construction site or premises for trenching and conduit deployment. 811 verification and layout, quality control tasks, & temporary traffic sign set up / removal.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Physical Demands: Frequent lifting of heavy equipment, kneeling, standing, bending, and working in closures.
Environment: Frequently outdoors, often exposed to extreme weather conditions, traffic closures, & in vehicle to and from the yard.
Tools: Proficient in using drills, vacuum excavators, shovels, measuring equipment, survey equipment, & powered equipment.
Typical Qualifications
Skills: Strong manual dexterity, basic technical aptitude, and the ability to read blueprints or construction plans.
Requirements: A valid driver's license, with a clean driving record, and minimum 12 months of experience in construction.
