We are an established gallery in central Phoenix looking to hire an art installer for part-time work. This job requires someone handy; who is capable of measurement, mental math, and using power tools. You will join a team that delivers and installs in clients homes and galleries. Direct experience in the arts is not required, but will be treated preferentially. We will provide guidance and training on the methods and preferences we use, but the ideal candidate will already be familiar with hardware types and basic installation principles. Also note that we regularly install pieces over 100 pounds (as a team, never alone), but do not apply if you are uncomfortable being on a ladder or lifting heavy weight.
We have company vehicles used to transport the artwork and tools. You do not need your own tools for this job, but if you do that is a plus. A typical week involves 2-4 days of working anywhere from 2 hours to 8 hours a day. Expect for this job to give you lots of free time for other pursuits, but scheduling from clients is often inflexible, so having flexibility elsewhere in your schedule is necessary. The work pays well and is rewarding and fun. Therefore, the ideal candidate has other remote work or passions, or is a student that lives close to the area. Must transport yourself to work (24th and Camelback).
Overall, we are looking for someone sharp who can learn on the job and make appearances to clients. You will start on a 2 man crew as the second hand. The lead installer will do all the thinking for you as you learn the measurements and processes, but you must know how to jump in to lend a hand and work well in a team. Must have a valid driver's license and be comfortable driving a cargo van. Others in this position have quickly advanced to leading a crew and doing solo jobs.
