Signs of the Times Inc. is seeking a dependable and hardworking General Laborer / Paint Prep Technician to support our large-scale commercial sign fabrication team. This position plays a critical role in preparing sign cabinets, dimensional letters, structural frames, and other fabricated components for paint and final finishing. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication shop environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Prepare aluminum and steel sign components for paint (sanding, grinding, cleaning, masking)
• Remove weld splatter, burrs, and surface imperfections
• Clean and degrease surfaces prior to painting
• Assist painters with staging, moving, and organizing sign components
• Hang and rack letters, cabinets, and structural pieces for paint
• Apply body filler as needed and sand to smooth finish
• Operate hand tools and basic shop equipment safely
• Maintain cleanliness of paint booth and prep areas
• Assist fabrication team with general shop labor as needed
• Follow OSHA and company safety procedures at all times

Qualifications
• 1+ year experience in paint prep, body work, metal prep, or general labor preferred but not required
• Experience working with metal surfaces (aluminum and steel) is a plus
• Ability to use grinders, sanders, and hand tools
• Strong attention to detail and surface quality
• Ability to lift 50–75 lbs
• Comfortable working in a shop environment with dust and paint materials
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
