Rothrock Civil Construction is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Finish Blade Operator to join our civil construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for fine grading and finishing earthwork to precise tolerances in preparation for paving, concrete, or final surface applications. Working closely with site supervisors and grading crews, the Finish Blade Operator will ensure that all work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with project plans and specifications. This role requires a high level of precision, experience with GPS and laser-controlled systems, and the ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities for Success

• Operate a finish blade with precision to grade roads, pads, and utility corridors to tight tolerances
• Lead and supervise a crew of up to 15 team members in daily site operations
• Set up, localize, and operate GPS and laser-controlled systems for high-precision grading
• Ensure positive drainage and site protection measures are in place daily to protect against storm damage
• Perform daily log keeping of project progress, problems, photos, and material quantities
• Identify and resolve utility conflicts, properly potholing and coordinating with Blue Stake as needed
• Work with the estimator, Project Manager, and Field Operations Manager to analyze project estimates and schedules
• Enforce job site safety, cleanliness, and traffic control standards to protect both the crew and the public

What You Bring to the Table

• Proven expertise as a Finish Blade Operator in civil construction or earthwork
• High proficiency in GPS-controlled grading systems, laser systems, rotary lasers, and eye-level equipment
• Strong leadership and communication skills—you can manage a crew and keep production moving
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical specs
• Understanding of grading best practices, drainage control, and quality finish requirements
• Safety-first mindset and a deep respect for jobsite protocols
• Strong collaboration skills—you can partner with PMs, estimators, and field leads to deliver quality, on time
