Price is subject to fluctuation. I would like at least melt value for this. Ideal buyer wants it for its historical value.
Very nice old silver box with wood lining. Marked on the front with a phoenix or double headed bird with a crown, pillars, and the letters K and J. On the back it is marked 900 Plata (spanish for silver), or greater than 90% Silver. Features a very heavy toning effect.
I personally took this to a coin shop and verified the authenticity of the silver. They actually said that it was testing higher than 90%, which I took to mean it's sterling, but I can only guarantee at least 90% Silver content.
Total weight is 440 grams, or 14.2187 Troy ounces, which works out to 12.79683 Troy ounces of silver. There is a thin and light wood lining, so the actual weight may be very slightly lower, but still estimated to contain over 12 Troy Ounces of silver.
Unknown origin, but estimated to be early 20th century ar the latest. Has value to the right person above just melt value as an antique box, likely used to store cigarettes or snuff.
