MIP VINTAGE SHEETS – ATELIER MARTEX - POMPEI designed by ARCHITECT ROBERT A.M. STERN
Robert A.M. Stern was an architect whose first bed and bath collection was announced by Westpoint Pepperell for its Atelier Martex division on Jul 13, 1989. Atelier Martex was a division of the textile company Westpoint Pepperell. Stern's collection was inspired by the classical scenes found in the ancient Roman city of Pompeii. He noted that a strong bedcovering could easily transform a neutral apartment.
These are RARE and unused New Old store Stock (Vintage 1989). Atelier Martex POMPEI pattern fabric. All are 100% combed cotton luxury no-iron percale. 200 thread count. New / sealed /never used GORGEOUS.
Two (2) Twin Flat Sheets each measures 70" x 96".
and
Two (2) Bed Skirts (aka Petticoats also known as a dust ruffle - a fabric flounce that fits around the sides of a bed, concealing the bed legs and the space underneath) with great box pleat details (not sure if twin or Full (most likely), tags inside say both and I haven’t unfolded them).
The print on these is fabulous, especially with the trim (and looks rather Versace-esque). Perfect if you like a bit of a flamboyant and extravagant design. Today, Atelier Martex continues to be available as a WestPoint Home brand offering LUXURY high end home textiles.
I’ve had them a long time and was always going to cut them up and make curtains from the sheets and make some pillows and recover a bed bench -- BUT never got around to it. Good thing! Now these are considered pretty rare… but if you’re like me, and just want to transform the great vintage print and fabric GO FOR IT!
