I tested a set of these brakes on a DH bike for a week at Angel Fire, about 100 miles or so, A4 on the front and A2 on the back. They came through in every way. I am 200lbs and they handled double black trails at Angelfire without sweating. I never felt unsafe on them. These are true DH capable brakes with modulation that leaves them very useable on any trail bike also. You will never feel like they are too powerful or touchy, while being able to lock each tire with one finger if you want to. The modulation is naturally better than the shimano standard binary feel, but don't feel anywhere near as lazy as many other so-called modulating brakes. I did sample different pads. Locking up the rear is something I don't want that to happen without a deliberate effort, and these provide that modulation. The A4-A2 combination is perfect for any trail bike, I would not put the A4 on the back, UNLESS, you are a downhill brake dragger that weighs over 160. Otherwise the A2 with a sintered pad (or ceramic for more modulation) on the back, and something with better cold grip on the A4 front is optimal.
If you have never had a truly powerful brake that actually modulates, they will surprise you. I have used Hope Tech 3 V4's and Quadiems on the same terrain and these are about 30-40% more powerful than each of them. They deliver more brake control than shimano, no surprise there. No wandering bite point, or fade. After bedding in, they remained noise free, even in 1/2" of rain.
