- A2/A2 Jersey (UC Davis)
- 4 years old (7/2021)
- Halter broke
- Calved unassisted 7/23 and 9/24 and has given us two healthy heifer calves
- An excellent dam; adopted a calf not her own
- Stands patiently for milking, whether by machine or hand-milking
- Amazing cream-line and wonderfully-tasting milk
- was a 4H heifer but has been a solo family cow for the last two years.
- Breeds easily (by AI)
- Respects single-wire electric fence
- Cooperative, but can be sassy.
- Primarily grass/alfalfa-fed, but needs some grain to keep her going
- Needs hoove-trimming twice per year.
- For her two lactations, she has peaked at 3.5 gallons a day once-a-day milking.
- During her second lactation, she got hit with a bad case of mastitis in one of her quarters. We worked with a vet to resolve as quickly as we could. While she is in excellent condition otherwise, her quarter had to be dried off. The vet has said production will likely come back fine next lactation, but if the production is lower the other three will compensate for it.
- is bred and due middle of Feb.
- Bred to a polled A2 Jersey bull, sexed to be a heifer
- Delivery not available
- We have a Melasty milking machine and milking equipment available to sell with her for an additional $700
Why we’re selling: We are moving out of state and won’t have immediate pasture for her. We love her and will be so sad to see her go!
