2020 Zero SR/F
14.4KW battery (replaced May 2025 with a new one)
Fully functional electric naked sport
Rides like a dream, monster throttle response, filtering hero.
Cosmetically: been my everyday commuter for years and looks like it. Grips are roughed up, a few dings in the paint, and some adhesive from the logo on a Ram X-grip phone mount dripped onto the "tank" and I just can't get it off. I wish you luck. Sticker removal is your job at your discretion. Scrapes from a minor drop (neighbors' dog got out and didn't like me headed to work in the morning I guess). Pinky promise I will give the whole thing a good wash before you take it.
Functionally: could do with a new belt, as the original is still on there. It got new Road 6 tires recently. Never been in a crash or any serious drops. Everything you see (except the milk crate) is stock.
Includes 120V charger (new June 2026). You can have the "cargo mounting rack" if you really want it. It's 12ga perforated mild steel, painted red to go faster (everyone knows red makes it faster and orange makes the engine blow up). Manual and physical service manual also included. Yes I have the original pillion seat.
I don't want to let go of this bike. It's the most I've ever enjoyed riding. I love it to death. But electric creates complications that my household can't continue to tolerate, and I need to move on to something else.
You should buy this bike for:
1) Commuting. It'll get you there and back with (almost) no sound at all. Turn the key and ride, never pay for gas. You won't see a change in your electric bill charging a Zero at home. It's narrow enough to filter anywhere and won't overheat even in the AZ summer (I've checked thoroughly).
2) Being "the person with the electric bike." Everyone will ask you about it. How fast does it go? Cuts you off at 125mph. How far does it go? Over 120mi on a charge if you're economical. How does it ride? Fun as hell. How much do they cost? Way too much.
3) Embarrassing everyone who thinks they're going to beat you off the line. They will not. This Zero produces 100hp the instant you want it to. Like I said, it's a filtering hero.
4) You don't mind taking it to GoAZ and only GoAZ when it needs serious service. Nobody will touch this. No mechanic wants to be on the hook for a "$20,000" electric bike they've never seen before.
You should not buy this bike if:
1) You're a new rider. This is a 500lb naked sport with 100hp behind it. Screw up on the throttle and you will low-side it, rocket off when you don't intend to, come into a corner harder than you're ready for, etc. There is no to clutch to grab when you realize your mistake. If you can't manage your throttle, you will find out.
2) You want a light bike. This bike is not light. Supposedly this is how much a Multistrada 1200S weighs. 100% of that weight is in one place: the battery. As a result it feels a little different in a corner.
3) You want a very comfortable bike. It's much more comfortable than a stock R1, but if you're not generally comfortable on a bike you will not be comfortable on this one.
4) You want to ride 2up with someone who is not very accustomed to it. They will not like it.
5) You want to go far. 120mi on a charge means it goes 60mi on a charge, assuming you're going home. It takes about 8 hours to charge 0 - 100% on 120V. You can charge it anywhere someone lets you use an outlet, but you're going to be waiting if you stranded yourself at 6%.
So why am I selling it? Had a nice career when I bought it. Now I don't. The bank still owns it for 4000 and that was never the plan. The nature of an electric is now getting in the way of my life and my plans. I love this bike. I've ridden it with the plan of being its final owner. I want whoever rides it next to be someone who loves it that much. You can test ride if you have 4k in cash (see: owned by my bank) and an unexpired helmet.
7000 OBO. If you'd rather take over the loan (with my credit union, local to AZ) I'm willing to talk if you have a *ready to ride* trade. (6oh-two six2oh 5eight-tree1) don't waste my time I won't waste yours.
