Klim Tactical Shorts. MSRP $149 + tax. These saved me hip/upper femur fractures 2 years ago. I wear them every day, even when it is 110F. Quality wise, these are far better than anything in the mountain bike industry. Motocross marketed but have a crotch chamois pad, means these replace the lycra padded short for use stand alone, or like in my case, beneath baggy shorts.
I have owned the Fox short and the Troy Lee, and these fit better and PROTECT BETTER than both of them. Also last 3X longer. The quality is more obvious when you see them side by side. The padding is very dense compared to anything else I have used, motocross duty. Because of how they are made stretchy, I am not aware of them when I am riding. I am a 33 waist and the large fits me. If you are 35 or larger use the XL.
I have a few sets of these,
Brand NEW (1) Large $99, (1) Medium $125, and (1) XL, $99.
2 sets of USED in great condition, (1) Large and (1) XL, $79.
Klim Tactical Shorts protect against impact with perforated Poron XRD material on the hips, thighs, and tailbone. A soft chamois on the seat area extends up to the tailbone to provide absorbent padding so you can stay in the saddle longer. Klimatek cooling fabric wicks sweat away to keep you dry and comfortable. Anti-microbial material integrated into the shorts keeps those smelly microbes from reproducing.
