I’m looking for recorder players to form a small ensemble focused on collaboration and improvisation. Rather than just sticking to standard sheet music, the goal is to develop our own sound and see what we can create as a group.
I’m still sorting out the exact direction, so I’m looking for people who want to help shape the project. Ideas and suggestions are welcome.
The Idea:
Improvisation: Experimenting with melodies and textures together.
Original Material: Building our own arrangements and seeing what sticks.
Acoustic Exploration: Playing in local spots with unique natural reverb and acoustics.
Who should join:
Skills: You should be comfortable enough with your instrument to improvise and play by ear.
Instruments: Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass players are all welcome.
Mindset: Open to experimental styles—anything from folk-influenced drones to more abstract sounds.
Details:
Location: Tempe.
Schedule: Weekly or bi-weekly rehearsals.
Interested?
Send me a note with the recorders you play, your musical background, and any ideas you have for the group. Let’s see what we can put together.
