These are some things that need to be considered when you are budgeting for new showers:
Demolition of existing shower/tub surround
Plumbing - New shower valves, shower head, body sprays, drains....
**We recommend that you provide Dumpster to handle the debris and keep costs down versus making trips to the dump.
Install of new wall substrate - Cement board or mud work.
Install of new waterproof shower pan and curb.
Install of new tile work.
Average projects takes usually a standard tub surround can be done in 2-3 days and a custom shower 3-5 days.
Of course larger and intricate designs will take longer.
