This singer model 221-1 is all but museum quality. Back story. My father was an upholsterer in Scottsdale since I was 4 years old and I'm now 67. Lost my dad in '17. Hed go around to garag sales looking for old upholstery eqpt. He would find good sewing machines, make sure they sewed, and just kind of store them. I inherited this machine when he passed. THe needle is still in the piece of fabric he tested it with. By the serial number and model number, this machine was made in 1947. There are no chips in the paint, nor gold leaf worn off. THere are some places from , due to age, that there are micro cracks in the gilding. THere is a sticker from the place on van buren where it was purchased. I remember when you did not need to dial an area code in az, as they were all 602. No receipt. Using the manual, it appears to have all the accessories for hemming, shearing etc. The manual is mint, orher than getting a bit brown from age.
