This is a softcover book, Watership Down by Richard Adams. Originally published in 1972, this copy is a First Scribner Trade Paperback Edition from January 2005. The story features a small group of rabbits in southern England as they escape the destruction of their warren and seek a place to establish a new home. It's so much more than that, though. Watership Down has been described as an allegory, "mirror[ing] the timeless struggles between tyranny and freedom, reason and blind emotion, and the individual and the corporate state." Adams draws on classical heroic and quest themes from Homer and Virgil, creating a story with epic motifs.
From the back of the book:
"Richard Adams's Watership Down is a timeless classic and one of the most beloved novels of all time. Set in England's Downs, a once idyllic rural landscape, this stirring tale of adventure, courage and survival follows a band of very special creatures on their flight from the intrusion of man and the certain destruction of their home. Led by a stouthearted pair of brothers, they journey forth from their native Sandleford Warren through the harrowing trials posed by predators and adversaries, to a mysterious promised land and a more perfect society."
Book is in good used condition. There's a very small tear at the bottom of the front cover, which is actually kind of hard to see, but I've included a closeup here. Other than that it shows very little wear and I don't see any other specific issues to mention. Pages are all very clean and there's no writing in it. Asking $4.00 obo. Everything I have listed for sale is "or best offer", so feel free to make an offer.

I sell a lot of items on Craigslist, so please take a look at my other stuff (sometimes free items as well). I come from a huge family of serious hoarders, so... Well, some people have yard sales, but I'm not able to do that, so I do this instead. It clears out the house and helps me get the last of my kids through college. All you have to do is search the word SALMAGUNDI on Craigslist, and all of my items should come up for you.
