This is an antique stoneware jug with a two-tone brown glaze on the top and a light grey/tan salt glaze on the bottom.
This one recently came out of an old trunk in a barn.
It has NOT been completely cleaned, only rinsed off to remove the accumulated dust.
The jug features an applied handle and is a common style for storing liquids like whiskey or moonshine in the 19th century.
This jug still has some of the original cork in the opening!!!
“Chips” evident around the rim are actually original blemishes from the production of the jug. Some would call that “character.”
See photos for best description.
I have 6 jugs for sale. (See photo)
