Selling several pieces of history from the now defunct Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) Inaugural U.S. 500 Race.
If you are viewing this listing, most likely you are well aware of the feud that developed between the original CART teams and the newly formed Indy Race League Headed by Tony George. I'll leave the politics out of it and simply say, Google it for a fascinating bit of racing history. Spoiler alert, it did not end well for all us CART enthusiasts. The Andretti jacket was not unique to the race. What makes it special is that it's signed by the auto racing legend himself Mario Andretti at the race. His son Michael had one of his all too common MIA moments when it came to autographs and like a true professional Mario jumped in the trailer and started signing. The jacket is an extra large and was never worn.
The pictures show most of what is included. There are several more pages of material in the scrapbook not shown and a second copy of the USA Today as well.
I would prefer to sell everything together however I will consider selling the jacket separately, because it is not unique to that racing event.
I will entertain all reasonable offers. I will not respond to all the usual CL nonsense and scams.
Thanks for looking !!!
