This rare, unusually large vintage plaster ( chalkware ) floor lamp, perhaps the only one, and initialed on the bottom by the artist, has been carefully refinished in a striking epoxy based stainless steel. It's in excellent condition.
The shade has been refinished in cobalt blue, and is now a blackout shade, with almost all light emitting from the top and bottom openings.
I'm thinking that this MCM lamp is from the 1980's, perhaps even the 1970's, because the original included shade came embellished with beaded tassels that were not popular beyond the mid-20th century.
The wave pattern runs from just under the top, wrapping around the lamp, and ending at the bottom.
The lamp, and the shade, began as a drab green. The hardware at the top was removed in order to refinish all of the plaster, as well as parts of the hardware.
The bottom area with the initials, which looks like MPPE, was left in its original state, which is clearly visible. The image of the bottom was taken before 8 new cushions were installed for floor protection.
Unlike most lamps, the cord emerges from the center of the lamp, allowing for the lamp to be displayed in any position.
Approximate dimensions:
53" tall to the top of the plaster
66" tall to the top of the original ball finial
