La Collotita aka LaLa is a 9-year-old AQHA mare standing 14.2 hands. She carries respected bloodlines including Chicks Beduino, Mr Eye Opener, and First Down Dash. She may be on the smaller side, but she has grit, heart, and a real desire to please. When she is turned out her, her athleticism is amazing this mare has talent, and it deserves to be developed. I’ve been working with LaLa for the past few weeks, and she continues to improve every ride. She’s one that slipped through the cracks and simply ended up with people who didn’t match her needs. When I first started her, she was more standoffish — never reactive or unsafe, just not the type to walk up for attention. Now she’s learned that affection is a good thing, and she genuinely enjoys it. In the arena, she is willing and has plenty of try, which is one of my favorite things about her. LaLa walks, trots, canters, is riding around softer each day, backs up, moving off leg pressure, and flexions. I took her back to the basics to begin rebuilding a solid foundation, and every session she shows progress. She is a mare who responds best to a soft but confident rider as she doesn’t do well with forceful or rushed handling. There is one area we are actively working through, and we’ll continue addressing it until she’s sold. LaLa stands quietly to groom and tack up, but once bridled she can show some anxious behavior, which continues when mounting. Standing still is hard for her, and once mounted she can feel tight and unsure. Recently, we adjusted her routine where I spend time, getting on and off until we are standing quietly with a relaxed body then go straight to working her. During rides, I get on and off multiple times, and by the end she’s significantly more relaxed with mounting. Never in the middle of riding has she offered any bad behavior. We have a few ideas about why she developed this habit, but can’t say for certain. Because of this, she needs an experienced rider who can continue her program with patience and consistency. I’m happy to discuss everything in detail with anyone truly interested. I firmly believe LaLa has the ability to make someone a very nice horse, and I could see her thriving in the barrel pen as she has the talent and the grit. With the right person, she will work hard for you and continue to blossom.LaLa has no vices such as cribbing, weaving, pacing, or biting. She bathes, ties, loads, and stands for the farrier. She is current on hoof care, teeth, shots, and deworming.
