Desert Globemallow aka Apricot Mallow
Sphaeralcea ambigua
bright orange, teacup-shaped flowers (this particular batch of seed offers mostly light orange but some dark orange flowers)

Sonoran Desert wildflower seeds should be spread/planted in the fall, but Globemallow can also be planted in mid-summer in anticipation of the monsoon season. They are native to this region so they do not require a human intervention -- they can handle full-sun and you do not need to water them.
Typically, Globemallow seed can sprout in late winter (or shortly after summer monsoon). With moderate rain by February-March, the Globemallow matures into a robust round shape with blooms all over. The flowers attract bees and butterflies.
With heavy rains, the Globemallow can grow quickly, which results in branches becoming leggy (sometimes flopping over and stretching like 2-3 ft vines); in such case, don't be afraid to prune. After flowering, you can attempt to turn them into perennials by dramatically cutting back the dry stalks -- most will re-green next season and grow back to their naturally large round shape and then blossom again.
Please note that Globemallow can be an aggressive spreader. If you do not want new seedlings to take over the yard, it's best to snip the flowers before they dry and spread seed.
