I am surprised by the prices ppl are asking for their senior horses. Did some research, I must say I think ppl are being taken. JMHO
When Are Horses Too Old To Ride?
There is no definitive age for retiring a horse, but many experts suggest that most horses should stop being ridden between 20 to 25 years old. This age range is when horses typically start showing signs of age that affect their ability to perform tasks that were once easy. Signs that a horse may be too old to ride include decreased stamina, difficulty performing tasks, signs of discomfort during or after riding, significant changes in behavior, and any health issues that impair their ability to safely carry a rider. It is crucial to consult with a veterinarian to assess the horse's specific needs and readiness for retirement.
