If you are not familiar, this is a Friedman Dirty Shirley preamp. Both channels are the same, so you can dial one in for clean or perhaps mild overdrive, and the other for high gain. Similarly, you can dial the channels to suit different guitars, cabs, or tailor for different parts of a song, for example.
This has an effects loop and other useful routing options. If you throw a reverb in the effects loop, you pretty much have a gig-ready tone monster. This has defeatable IRs for cab modeling. That means you can run it straight into a FOH system or recording interface and have a studio-perfect tone. You can also turn off the IR and run this into a FRFR cab or other powersource and use your own speakers. Furthermore, you can use this as an all tube distortion/overdrive pedal for the front of a traditional guitar amp.
