Beautiful King Marigaux low-A baritone saxophone in excellent condition, plays great. This horn is a "Gold Medal" bari built in Paris by SML for King......it is identical to the SML Gold Medal horn (stencil horn). These are very rare and well known as a direct competitor (or better) to Selmer pro-level horns such as the Mk VI or SA80.
This horn dates to 1970 and is in great shape, very few/very minor cosmetic issues or dings, and excellent lacquer finish. This particular example has the coveted G# articulated low C# switch, providing the option to open G# when fingering a low C# - this makes for fast, easy moves from low C# to G# without difficult finger movements; or you can switch it off.
The sound is typical French color but powerful when pushed, warm when not. No stuffiness like some Selmer horns. Absolutely wonderful to play. Included is the original factory neck and a Meyer mouthpiece with lig and cap. The case is very solid, latches work great, handle is solid but just the leather wrap is coming off.
