KODAK REGENT 620/120 ROLL FILM CAMERA INTERMEDIATE MODEL
Kodak Regent is a folding coupled rangefinder roll film camera made in Stuttgart, Germany, by Kodak AG starting in 1935. The camera was very difficult to manufacture and very expensive to sell, so it was not exported to the United States and was in production for a very short period of time.
This is a rare intermediate model prototype made between the original Very First Regent and Regent II. I bought it in 1965 from a German friend of mine, one of the designers of this model.
This Regent can also take pictures on a type 120 film. The type 120 spool is suitable for this model only in length. The only requirement is that the diameters of the spool flanges of each new roll of film need to be reduced by 2mm. This is because the flanges of the standard type 120 spool have diameters of 25 mm, and the type 620 spools are 23 mm. To do this, the flanges of every new plastic spool with unexposed film wound are easily cut with ordinary, well-sharpened scissors. When cutting, the left blade of the scissors must be pressed tightly against the roll record, smoothly moving them along the diameter of the roll, as shown in the photo. For this purpose, it is best to use scissors with a rounded tip, as can be seen in the attached photographs.
