The R1C1 is a macro flash solution for i-TTL capable cameras that do not feature a built-in flash, The kit is fully compatible with the Nikon Creative Lighting System and Advanced Wireless Lighting system when used with compatible cameras and/or flashes.
The kit's main components consist of the SX-1 Attachment Ring that attaches to the lens filter threads via an adapter ring, two SB-R200 wireless macro flash heads, and the SU-800 Commander Unit. The SX1 accommodates up to eight SB-R200 Speedlights off camera, and up to four on camera. This solution enables excellent close-up lighting control with exceptional flexibility and innovative options.
Note: When using the SU-800 with cameras not compatible with i-TTL flash control, only close-up flash operation (using cords) is possible when used with the optional TTL Cord SC-30.
The built-in Speedlights of the Nikon digital SLRs serve as the system's Master controller. Or, for non i-TTL cameras, the SC30 sync cord can be used for off-camera control.

Flash head tilts down (toward the optical axis) to 60° with click stops at every 15°, or up to 45° (in the opposite direction) with click stops at every 15°
Condition
The unit was tested and the flash units fired on cue.
The system only saw occasional use. A Nikon engineering flaw, the MS-1 case designed to hold the entire system doesn't breathe, so if it were used in a wet environment without silica gel packs inside, then the exposed metal would corrode. As such there is corrosion on some screw heads, the adapter rings and the metal wire on the clamp; purely cosmetic and does not hamper any operation. This is typical of all R1C1 and R1 sets as they all use the MS-1 case.
