I recently relocated back to Phoenix after the passing of my Lady friend, roommate of 21 yrs. Her sister who lives here is a reference for me. I am having difficulty finding a roommate situation where utilities are billed separate from the rent. This makes a huge difference in my monthly income and for others on Social Security fixed incomes. A utilities included rental disqualifies my-self and others of SNAP benefits and forces us to spend out of pocket more of our limited income. It also does not allow some of us to use our utility allowance we receive from our health plans. For me personally it makes a $ 300 plus difference in my discretionary funds. So, I'm asking for replies from only the folks who need a roommate or have a vacant room for rent that will be willing to write a simple letter to DES stating x amount for rent x amount for utilities per month. And will allow me to use my utilities allowance on their Elec or natural gas bill every month. In Nevada I was receiving $210 a month allowance. I do not know what it will be here yet. Even if it's just $35 dollars, that's money not coming out of my pocket every month. I'm 62 yrs old and on SSDI. I lost part of my right leg from a motorcycle accident when I was 20 yrs old. I cook and am very capable of taking care of life's basic chores. Ideally less than $600 total for both rent and utilities per month is my target. Looking for the first week/early part of June or any month after that. Currently in a Senior only rooming house that is not my style, but it's a roof and bed for now. Ideally, I would like to cook in a real kitchen and be able to do my laundry at home. A real bathroom where I can baith and shave regularly. Not just shower up for the day. I'm a thrifty shopper and pride myself on how much I can save on groceries. I do not drink or use drugs. I don't go out partying or bar hopping. I have no social media profiles out there. In short, a homebody kind of guy. A pool and fitness center apt living situation would be cool. Being just a border in a house not so much but you never know. The right people make for a good atmosphere. Thanks for reading my ad, good luck and may God bless all of you out there who have the faith or are in need and want to believe. My phone does text if you're curious.
