I recently relocated back to Phoenix after the passing of my BFF/roommate of 21 yrs. I am having difficulty finding a roommate situation where utilities are billed separate from the actual rent. This makes a huge difference in my monthly income and for others on Social Security fixed incomes. A utilities included rental disqualifies myself and others of SNAP benefits and forces us to spend out of pocket. It also does not allow some of us to use our utility allowance we receive from our health plans. For me personally it makes a $400 plus difference in my discretionary funds. So, I'm asking for replies from only people who have a vacant room for rent that are willing to write a simple letter to DES stating x amount for rent x amount for utilities per month. And will allow me to put my utilities allowance on their Elec or natural gas bill every month. I would only need the account number to make a partial payment for you every month. In Nevada I was receiving $210 a month allowance but I do not know what it will be here yet. Even if it's just $35 dollars, that's money not coming out of my pocket every month. If this sounds like too much of a hassle. I don't want your room for rent. I am looking for a roommate situation not just a room to rent. Rent and utilities split evenly is my preference. That's the easiest way for my situation to work out and so many others on fixed incomes. We are literally leaving money on the table every month because we are unable to use it at a utilities included rental situation along with the disqualification from SNAP. PS my disability is an amputated leg from a motorcycle accident when I was 20 yrs old not a phycological condition. I have had many highly skilled jobs in my life. I'm 62yrs old 6'2" 220 and look a lot younger than my age. Generally clean cut, let the whiskers go for a few days from time to time. 100% hetero. And I don't do Leftist ideology nonsense. I'm easy going, hip slick and cool I used to say. I cook and clean up after myself. I keep myself and surroundings clean as well. Make my bed every day.
