I'm letting go of my second studio-rig Mac.
If you know anything about these beasts, you'll know they can be upgraded to hang with even the newer Mac mini's and 2023 Mac Studios.
This bad boy has Firmware 144. (YES!) Who would've thought this Mac could run NVMe® SSD drives?
1. Has the Apple-approved METAL CARD Sapphire RX 580 with 8GB of VRAM (hardly used when I bought it new).
2. I only buy top-of-the-line OWC RAM, and it has 48GB of triple-channel memory for maximum performance.
3. Has OWC SSD 6G boot drive (250GB) that's blazing fast, but you can also boot from an NVMe blade for ridiculous speed.
4. OWC Accelsior E2 PCI ( 250GB ) blazing speed drive.
4. 1TB hard drive that I used only for backups.
Fresh installs of both Monterey and Sequoia, and soon when Opencore release 3.0 Tahoe will run smooth. That's right—this computer can run modern macOS versions.
The speed this computer delivers is astonishing. I've been cutting tracks on both machines for 13 years without a single hiccup.
Ask any recording engineer—these machines are still producing radio-ready tracks and movie scores. Rock solid.
Especially now that Apple computers are no longer upgrade-able, you're stuck with whatever configuration you buy. ( expensive )
I'll never let go of my identical rig—it's my bread and butter.
Watch my friend's video explaining why he's still using the Mac Pro in 2024. Lance has mixed for many top artists.
Or search. Ultimate Mac Pro 5,1 2024?
