A millwork scheduler coordinates custom architectural woodworking and cabinetry from order entry through production and delivery. They balance client deadlines, material availability, and shop capacity to eliminate bottlenecks. This role acts as the bridge between sales, engineering, and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
· Production Planning: Create and maintain master production schedules for custom cabinetry and millwork. Sequence jobs based on priority, lead times, and internal manufacturing processes.
· Resource Allocation: Ensure raw materials, hardware, and components are ordered and available to keep production moving.
· Cross-Department Coordination: Work directly with project managers, estimators, drafters, and shop floor leadership to align on scope and avoid schedule conflicts.
· Progress Tracking: Monitor project milestones and adjust timelines to mitigate potential delays.
Core Skills
· Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to interpret shop drawings and construction documents. · Software Proficiency: Experience using manufacturing and scheduling software (e.g., ERP/MRP systems, MS Project, or specialized Cabinet Scheduler tools).
· Organizational Abilities: High attention to detail with strong multi-tasking skills under tight deadlines.
· Communication: Clear internal and external communication to keep stakeholders updated on job status.
Qualifications & Experience
· Education: Typically requires a High School Diploma, though an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations, or Woodworking is highly valued.
· Experience: 2–5 years of direct experience in production planning, scheduling, or material planning in a manufacturing environment
