Activities/Programs Assistant

We are seeking a Zest Assistant for our community The Village at Ocotillo located in Chandler, AZ.

You must have superb communication skills, be REALLY reliable (it disappoints the residents when you are a no-show). Resilience and willingness to learn are essential.

Core responsibilities:

  • Position reports to the Zest Director and works as part of a team.
  • Help the Director implement creative activities, outings and programs that enrich our resident’s lives.
  • Help the Director to develop newsletter content, flyers, activity calendars, one-pagers, and other collateral material that support resident/family/staff awareness and engagement.
  • Promote participation in activities and help foster social connectedness between residents.
  • Learn the nuts and bolts of how to run a Program’s and Activities Department (the most fun part of the community!)
  • Learn the programs/activities industry and best practices in senior wellbeing and how the pieces of the puzzle fit together.
  • Proactively establish and maintain effective working relationships with all support roles at the community.
  • Other tasks, as assigned (sorry to sound so vague; we all wear a lot of hats!)
  • MUST be a team player!

    Required Skills:

    • Insatiable appetite for learning – this is a COMPLEX industry with a lot of moving parts -- what you learn in this job will set you up for success!
    • An inquisitive mind -- the best people for this role simply ask the best questions and genuinely want to help find optimal solutions for residents!
    • Impeccable communication abilities – both written and oral.
    • Outgoing personality – duh! You have to enjoy – truly enjoy –interacting with people in all mediums (via e-mail, phone, and face-to-face)
    • Resourcefulness – ability to work independently when needed AND as a member of collaborative team.
    • Above-average skills in the Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PPT, and Outlook.

    This is a full-time position, working approximately 40 hours per week with hours that span weekdays, weekends, and some public holidays.
