Job Overview:
As a community Maintenance Technician, you will support the day-to-day upkeep of the HOA community during the busy summer season. This role includes a mix of general maintenance, janitorial and grounds responsibilities to ensure clubhouse, common areas, amenities and building systems remain clean, safe and fully operational.
This is a temporary position expected to run through July-August, with the potential to extend based on community needs.
Compensation: $25-26 per hour, depending on experience
FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
Your Responsibilities:
- Ensure building and systems are maintained properly and in safe working order (i.e. applicable mechanical systems, electrical, fire safety, access control, HVAC, sprinkler systems, irrigation and landscaping, etc)
- Maintain recreational amenities (i.e. pool and spa, common areas, community parks, sports courts)
- Paint and touch up walls, doors and common area surfaces to maintain community appearance
- Spread and level granite/ rock in landscaped areas to ensure proper coverage and upkeep
- Assist in overseeing day-to-day maintenance of basic landscaping and common area maintenance
- Assist in maintaining the common areas by picking up any trash and debris
- Conduct routine inspections
- Manage preventive inspection and maintenance schedule and corresponding work
- Keep accurate operational, maintenance and repair logs
- Help coordinate and perform modifications and improvements
- Ensure emergency maintenance situations are handled timely and properly
- Maintain an emergency response plan, including vendors and other necessary contacts
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bilingual is a plus
- Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and maintain state-required auto insurance (if operating a company or personal vehicle for business purposes)
- Knowledge of building mechanics, operations methods and operating requirements (i.e. plumbing, HVAC systems, electrical systems, pool maintenance, etc)
- Organized, with the ability to prioritize and adjust to incoming demands
- Able to use tools, equipment, and chemicals safely
- Able to troubleshoot problems and identify solutions in a timely and effective manner
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Detail oriented
Education and Experience:
- 2+ years of commercial, residential, high-rise, or HOA maintenance experience (required)
- Trade school experience (preferred)
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to perform in various weather conditions (i.e. rain, heat, cold, wind, etc)
- Must be able to respond to on-site emergencies on nights, holidays, and/or weekends
Work Location: Glendale, AZ
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, typical schedule is 5:30a – 2p. Schedule may vary based on seasonal needs.
