Melissa Black is a Classically Trained Operatic Lyric Soprano, Voice Teacher and Professional Pianist in the Phoenix Metro area. Melissa was educated at Oklahoma City University and The University Of Central Oklahoma. She holds advanced degrees including a Masters of Music Education. She also has advanced vocal training from the Aims Institute Of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. Melissa also holds a valid certificate as a certified sub for The Peoria Unified School District and is an expert in teaching kids and teens and they love her studio and all that she provides! Melissa's piano skills are outstanding in the fact that she can play by ear ALL types of music by ear AND transpose any song she hears to any key and play it to perfection. Melissa is a "classical-crossover" singer, professional pianist, vocal coach, expert music arranger of all styles of music and as an independent musician - she produces, releases and markets all of her own music. plays all of her piano karaoke's by ear and is also able to transpose them by ear to different keys for singers. BE READY TO DO ALL KINDS OF MUSIC! Thats the fun part! Be ready to study improvisation in this studio - you will be asked to not only do songs like the original artists and cover artists - but you will need to know how to make a song "your own"; In other words - change keys - change tempos - change the style of the song - etc... All very important for today's voice competitions - its no longer good enough to know how to sing - you need to know style and most important - "delivery" of the material. Come get started with Melissa! Come see the only teacher in the entire valley who sings and plays all types of music by ear and can teach you to sing all genre's of music correctly! When you read this - TEXT ME and let me know your availability and what kind of music you like to sing and/or want to study. All lessons are CASH ONLY and must be paid for at the time of the lessons. I ask that students pay for TWO lessons when they book with me - this cuts down on no-shows and last minute cancellations that are not emergencies. NO mornings or weekends. NOTE - WHEN YOU TEXT ME YOUR INFO - let me know your age - if you are male or female - your singing experience and what area of town you are coming from as well as your availability as far as coming over for lessons. ( I accept children at the approx age of 6 years of age on up) BUT they must have great reading skills since the lyric sheets will be on the piano and they will have to be able to see and read them while singing).
