Responsibilities
• Able to drive a service truck to different customer locations and work on-site (outside or in customers’ shop if they have one available)
• Technicians use their knowledge & skills to diagnose and fix vehicles for our customers
• Continuously build experience as a diesel mechanic across a wide range of vehicles
• Complete full, accurate, and honest courtesy vehicle inspections
• Troubleshoot customer concerns quickly and effectively
• Follow and promote our high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organization
• Effectively communicate customer concerns
• Able to work independently to solve problems, meet deadlines, and deliver distinguished results
• Able to write accurate repair work orders proficiently
Qualifications
• Valid Driver's License
• Background check after first in-person interview
• Pre-employment drug test
• Has necessary heavy duty diesel mechanic tools
• Able to work independently
• Positive attitude and a desire to serve customers
• 5+ years of experience as a diesel technician/mechanic
• CDL a plus
• Capable of diagnosing and repairing all makes/models of heavy duty diesel vehicles
• Meet or exceed hourly goals
• Aptitude for learning additional skills and processes
• Professional appearance and strong communication
• A desire for long-term career development
• Welding experience
Physical Requirements
• Occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds
• Be able to work with tools on vehicles above their head
• Work in tight spaces as dictated by the vehicle’s needed repair
• Have the needed dexterity in order to efficiently use hand tools
• Walk/stand for the majority of their workday
• Drive manual transmission vehicles
• Efficiently navigate a computer and necessary apps.
Additional Information
Wehr Diesel Service (WDS) is a small, family-run business just outside of northwest Phoenix. Our success comes from the simple premise of providing quality diesel repair with transparency, integrity and a philosophy of people first. We strive to be the best at what we do (and we’re doing a pretty darn good job at it!). Our business is mostly by word-of-mouth and we are always busy. We travel to client sites and provide maintenance, repair, and diagnostic services for heavy duty diesel vehicles and equipment. Typical hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm or 3pm-12am, overtime pay if you work over 40 hours per week. Paid weekly.
